HESQ & Compliance Manager - Schiphol

Aircraft Fuel Supply (AFS) plays a vital role at Schiphol Airport: responsible for receiving, storing and distributing Jet A-1 fuel via an underground pipeline network to aircraft. With a storage capacity of 100,000 m³ and a team of around 30 professionals, AFS ensures a safe and reliable fuel supply at one of Europe's busiest airports every day. 

We are looking for an experienced and strategically strong HESQ & Compliance Manager for this organisation. 

The role 

As HESQ & Compliance Manager, you are ultimately responsible for ensuring safety, compliance and continuity within AFS. You are a visible and directive leader within the MT and ensure that laws and regulations (including JIG, BRZO and Environment Act) are not only complied with, but are an integral part of the organisational culture. 

You will drive and further develop the HESQ and compliance policy with a clear vision, continuously improving according to the PDCA methodology. 

What will you do? 

• Develop and implement HESQ policy and (multi-year) safety plans 
• Ultimately responsible for the safety management system, RI&E, audits and compliance processes 
• Establishing and monitoring KPIs and reporting to management and stakeholders 
• Leading and supervising internal and external audits (incl. VBS and JIG) 
• Managing the HESQ Coordinator and Compliance Coordinator 
• Monitoring permits, laws and regulations and relationship management with regulators and partners (e.g. Schiphol, Votob) 
• Initiating and supervising improvement and change processes within operations 
• Key role in crisis management and emergency organisation (CVO/OT/BT) 
• Function as a sparring partner and advisor to the General Manager and MT

What do you bring? 

• HBO working and thinking level (preferably Safety Science or similar) 
• Extensive experience within HESQ and compliance, including managerial responsibility 
• Experience in a regulated industrial environment (e.g. energy, petrochemical, aviation) 
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (e.g. JIG, BRZO) is a strong plus 
• Strong communication skills and persuasiveness 
• Strategic insight combined with hands-on execution power 
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to strengthen safety culture
